Frequently Asked Questions:
Question Can I bring my hybrid car to Quantum Mechanics? Answer Absolutely! We have plenty of experience with servicing and repairing of hybrids! Lexus, Toyota, and Honda hybrids are all welcome at Quantum Mechanics! ____________________________________________ Question My car is still under warranty, will bringing it to Quantum Mechanics void it's warranty? Answer Despite what many new car dealers would have you believe, it's a federal law that you're allowed to take your car anywhere you'd like to have routine maintenance done. As long as you have proof that the maintenance was actually done, you're still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. For more information on this hotly contested issue, see www.righttorepair.org _______________________________________ Question How much does a tune up cost? Answer The term "tune up" is somewhat out of date. Modern vehicles don't require "tuning", but rather scheduled maintenance and driveability repairs as needed. Generally speaking, only older vehicles, especially those with carburetors, require things such as fuel mixture adjustment, ignition timing adjustment, and dwell adjustment of the points. On your modern computer-controlled vehicle that doesn't require "tuning", we can: 1. Give you an estimate for routine maintenance services. OR 2. Diagnose driveability problems and follow up with an estimate for the repair. Question German and Japanese brands only? Answer That's correct, we only service the following import automobile brands:
Question Do I need an appointment? Answer Yes. If you need to unexpectedly drop your car off, we will be happy to make an appointment for you at that time. Question What if I need to tow my car to you? Answer We'd suggest either Tic Toc Towing or Zach's Towing. Both companies are familiar with towing to our location, and for your convenience, they can forward the towing charge to your bill at Quantum Mechanics. If you find yourself with an unexpected break-down, feel free to have your car towed to our location. We'll be happy to schedule an appointment for your car at that time. Tic Toc Towing 404.277.0866 Zach's Towing 404.294.7837 Question What kind of parts do you use? Answer We flat out refuse to use cheap, generic "white box" parts! Your car cost too much money to compromise your investment with sub-par quality parts. We use only factory original and top-quality aftermarket parts from highly reputable manufacturers! Question How long will it take to finish my car? Answer Time to job completion depends very specifically on what work is being performed. Rest assured that we will provide you the best service possible and be mindful of your time. Question How do you stand behind your service? Answer We guarantee all of our parts and service with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. Question Do you do painting or collision repair? Answer No, but we'd suggest you check out Decatur Paint and Body for your bodywork needs. Question What are your hours? Are you open on Saturday? Answer Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, but automotive work is done by appointment only. Please bear in mind that we are closed on both Saturday & Sunday, and that we are generally fully-booked for appointments two-to-five business days in advance. Question What about after-hours dropoff? Answer Feel free to leave your car in the parking area at the front of our building and place your key in the black drop box attached to the front brick wall of our building. The drop box is labeled "QM Key Drop." Question Can you work on my car while I wait? Answer We strongly discourage this approach. Most service or repair procedures have unknown contingencies such as need for additional parts, wrong parts delivered from distributors (this happens more often than one might expect), or discovery of additional work needed. To ensure that your car gets the best attention possible, we ask that you please plan to leave your car with us. www.qmauto.com qmauto | |||||||||
